WS-15: SURFACE ENGINEERING FOR HARD COATINGS

TOPIC: RECENT ADVANCES IN THIN FILMS AND HARD COATINGS

Ávila, Spain. July 4-8, 2004

Workshop Aim

The main aim of the workshop is to present the state of the art on surface engineering and materials science of hard thin films and coatings. The sessions will highlight recent advances in the development, production, and application of hard films, super-hard coatings, as well tribological, hard decorative and functional coatings.

Manuscripts (optional) should be submitted dealing with correlations between process parameters, chemical/physical/microstructural properties, mechanical properties, coating/substrate adhesion, nanoscale architecture, nano-composite, modeling, and tribological performance are encouraged. Contributions are sought for, but not limited to, the topics listed above.

In addition to the academic and industrial contributed presentations and invited lectures there were will be the Technology Forum - "round tables sessions" where to discuss the present state of the art, novel applications and current challenges and opportunities.
